Tommy: A good camping coffee pot is a must ... that's if like me, you have a little voice saying 'gimmy gimmy caffeine' when your eyes open first thing in the morning.
At home that's easily achieved. But out in the bush or away on holiday the nearest 'Starbucks' might be a long way off.
The good news however, is that there are several portable camping coffee makers for people on the move, some even small enough to fit into a backpack, so that's good news!

The coffee plunger also known as a press pot or coffee press is a very popular coffee maker as they are relatively cheap and compact. They come in a variety of sizes like 1 cup, 2 cup and 4 cup models.
With these plungers you only need good quality ground coffee beans and boiling water to ensure a tasty 'cup pa' in any camp setting.
The coffee plungers are normally made of glass but, travel mug versions made of durable plastic are also available.
These plungers are compact and light making them popular with hikers as well.
Many other different filters drip coffee makers are obtainable today that vary in size and shape.
Pouring water over ground coffee beans held in a paper filter will give a freshly brewed cup of coffee in an instant.
These filter holders are made of different materials and even come in an expandable version made of silicon. This filter folds completely flat and looks like a tiny Frisbee with a diameter of 130mm.
So who says you can't have coffee on the hiking trail as these fit into a backpack with ease. Remember to take sufficient paper filters as you can only use them once before discarding.

Moka Express espresso maker was invented by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933 and is still today as popular as ever.
Traditionally made with aluminum and Bakelite handles they are durable and compact and are available in a stove top version which makes them ideal for camping.
They come in sizes ranging from 1 to 18 cups.
Bear in mind that a cup is measured in a single espresso (50ml) so work on two cups for a normal serving. A 4 cup size should be enough for 2 cups of coffee.
With your favorite coffee and a stove top the best cup of coffee will be available to you even in the roughest surroundings.
As we all know, there are numerous electric percolators on the market and even the one in use at home can double for a camping coffee pot providing the camp has electricity points at individual camp sites and space and weight is not a problem.
When taking an electric model we only hope there won't be any power failures.
Camping coffee pot is widely available now making it possible for you to enjoy your favorite 'cup pa' even when camping.
